What a match!

What a match! It was IPL #5’ 49th match on Wankhede with Sachin on ground made me write this time. The kick start of Murali Vijay and his every knock flattening every bowler gave an initial edge to Chennai team.  I bite my tongue when Murali hit Munaf for 24 runs a over with 3 smashing sixes round the ground and a four. Bravo and Raina put no doubts with the intentions their team entered on Wankhede. Their partnership proved remarkable to put a target of 173 with an extra edge given by Dhoni's quick rally of 25 off 15.

Chasing massive RR of 9 per over, Franklin's dismissal much earlier of the game was proved to be a good draw which got Rohit Sharma in. All went well till a brilliant century partnership stand for Sachin and Rohit. Sachin's fifty with boundaries and sixes were a treat to eyes. Rohit too proved a good mentee for Sachin with a mature discussion on the pitch amongst boundaries and sixes around by both the Mumbai Indians. All looked good for Mumbai Indians till Sachin left the ground with 40 off 25 with 8 wickets in hand. Match turned the head towards Chennai with a brilliant spell by much underutilized R Jadeja, a surprised decision by strategist MS Dhoni. Two wickets in a over with Rohit and Rayudu bowled out, smashed Mumbai Indians on ground. Next quick dismissal of 3 players gave a strong grip to Chennai team. Smith was only a trump card left on the ground keeping hopes held high.
The last spell by Hilfenhaus witnessed the loudest noise in Mumbai. With one run on first bowl took Malinga on charge but was dismissed on very next ball. Hearts of Mumbai Indians stopped beating for a while. Scoreboard showed 14 off 3 balls when RP Singh tossed one run to Smith in position. The next ball was hit off the ground with a six in the crowd pumping enormous blood in every Mumbai Indians' heart. Smith stroked a boundary over Hilfenhaus' head for a full toss again stopped every beat. It was 4 runs, 1 balls to go and Smith did it in his very first match of this season which he would remember for years. A hair raising match won by Mumabi indians was an unbelievable victory and the loudest crowd after 2011 world cup win on this ground. What a match!

  1. yes,it was really a heart throbing match!I saw it with my Husband. It was the last over for MIs to show their power..MIs had to make 14 runs off 3 balls. The only way was to divide 3 balls as one 6,and two 4s..Smith did the same. At the last ball when Smith hitted the ball and it was a boundary!! when saw this we jumped up from our places without realisation that what are we doing, why did we done it. There was no preplanning to cheer up..It happened naturally.. It happens naturally..We were just volucanized..but with the happiness within us. It was nice reading your blog,it made write to it! Your blog reminded me all that atmosphere, made me feel happy.. :)
