A day in the history of Cricket

In the midst of soaring Gold...
In the midst of diving sensex...
In the midst of Indian politics with a blend of Adarsh, telecom 2G scams at each corner...
Here comes April 2, 2011, the day no Indian could ever forget!!!

When the last world cup was lifted, I was 3 months old, still wrapped in my nappies, crying for milk, didn't know about what the heck is this world cup so special for? Even I am sure about MS Dhoni on that day when he must be 2 years old and may not be in the different mindset of what I was in? In both ours and in the lives of 1.21 Bn people's life, here comes a day, 2nd Arpil, 2011

An outstanding performance by Zaheer Khan, Gauti, Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh when roared by a "magnificent strike in the crowd" (Typical Ravi Shastri) when Dhoni hit a winning six in style, the entire nation's ecstacy went up in the sky touching a new height. The day was really different in every sense.

Its a rare occassion in the history of cricket -
When Mumbai local trains carrying more than 60 lacs passengers daily, were seen empty on that day and road traffic was jammed for the celebration...
when entire nation's roads were flooded with cars, bikes, rikshaws, bicycles, buses while the traffic policemen were happy seeing this crowd...
When 1.8 lacs of alchohol was consumed for over 8 hours of madness in ONLY Mumbai bars and policemen were dancing with happy tears in the eyes...
When 20,000 kg of meat and fish were sold out on the day in Mumbai though all the fishermen did not work on this day and were busy watching Sachin playing for India...
When more than 660 millions people watch cricket on television setting a record in the histroy of cricket...
When Rajini, Ghajini, Ambani stand in the crowd to watch Dhoni rubbing shoulders with Sangakara...
When most powerful lady in the country, Mrs Sonia Gandhi went in the crowd without much caring about security touching and wishing every happy Indian face..
When most popular and admired bachelor of India, Rahul Gandhi goes as a common man in the crowds of Wankhede stadium...
When Punjab da puttar Yuvraj cries like a 5 year child accompanied by bhajji...
When We paid Rs 150 extra just for that day to listen to Ravi Shastri on Star Cricket which was worth when we heard 'A magnificent strike in the crowd, what a finish in style'...

Once said 'Cricket is just not cricket in India, its a religion and Sachin is God', was quite true on this day, and it is true when I am ALIVE.
