Warehouse Express Orders (WEX), Special Order Sales (SOS), SOS Express orders (SOSE)

Retail industry works differently in accordance with type of product for sale, segmented market and its reach over the country/ region. These retail outlets operate with the support of a strong distribution channel. A standard retail organization has a supporting warehouse backed up by a strong connectivity with suppliers/ vendors and stores. All the products from all of the suppliers/ vendors may not be available at the stores all the time. But the regular stock items should be well replenished at the store locations just to avoid stock outs and loosing the customers.

There are few items which are sold at the stores but may not be available all the time in stores. Sometimes few of the items are not stocked in the stores due to its high value/ less demand/ complexity in maintaining its distribution at the store locations. The customer may order these items looking at the brochure, catalogue, e-catalogue or any other selling tool. Depending upon the fulfillment of these items, they are categorized as WEX/ SOE, SOSE, SOS orders. When the item is fulfilled from warehouse/ DC (distribution center) then this order is called as WEX (Warehouse express Order). The orders which are fulfilled from the vendors are treated as special orders and are distributed directly to the customer/ stores depending upon the choice of the customer for delivery. If the order is fulfilled from the special distribution centers then they are called as special order express orders. The orders which are fulfilled from the vendors and delivered to the customers (also treated as Direct To Customer - DTC). These are also called as the Special order sales (SOS). These terminologies may differ from organizations to organizations and may not followed by all of them.
