Business in the midst of changing India
While going through an article in times, big blaze went over me, made me think & write something on a piece of paper. This blog is one of those many thoughts.
Before a decade or two, though the urban population was getting with its better lifestyle, the rural population was still struggling with the poor infrastructure, electricity, water and shelter problems. Though India is considered primarily as a land of farms, we were seeing more people shifting from villages to shinning/ brighter side of city life. I remember, the former prime minister of India saying, ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kissan’, but now who cares for this jingle? And don't we see this getting buried somewhere under the soil. With the rising inflation rate and the rate at which the poor getting poorer was much more than rate of rich getting richer, the social class of India was denying 7 layers and was ready to accept only 2 layers in society. But in spite of all this, we had hopes and we have better this time. This has changed over a period.
When we look back in the last year or a decade, we witness a new India. A new, young India in this era, with full of energy, youth, enthusiasm, self confidence and strength, at the same time it’s a little ironic to see her caught in the turbulent times of corruption, scams, frauds and injustice. This India is witnessing hopping gold price at the same time price of onion out of which both are seen never before. Despite of all these, we see India growing with a pace of 8-9% GDP growth year on year and surpassing China in the coming year 2012 in GDP growth. We also behold this India from a monopoly of Aakashwani to monopolistic competitive market of hundreds of FM companies; oligopoly of BSNL/ MTNL/ Airtel to tens of Uninors. We also see the corporate companies getting into agricultural fields with big dreams and making all the way big in the Indian market. Each individual population of this country wishes to fulfill his wants and the same time he wishes to fulfill it with a competitive price. Every individual seeks a better price for a similar product or a substitute. Increased bargain power of a customer has pulled the seller bargain power down. The globalized competitive market has forced the organizations to revamp periodically and come out with a better product and at the same time at a cheaper price. We hope to see this getting better and better over period of time. The new Indian market opens its wide arms for all of the nations, and all of the kinds of industries. We hope to see a better offering not for a group of society but for each individual who constitutes this group.

Very nice Atish. Particularly I liked the way you portrayed two opposite facets of the nation.
ReplyDeleteBecause I strongly believe that, unequal distribution of wealth and not the poverty is the biggest problem we have faced. The equilibrium in society looks beyond reach.
I would also appreciate the optimism in your thoughts. I have always fascinated by particularly one thing of our former president Dr. APJ Kalam, that even when he could see the corrupt system and people from closer than what we can, he always talked about a better India in future. I have always wondered for his super optimism, there was a pinch of it in your witting.
So is next APJ in making????? :):) Just kidding buddy I know you are soon getting married so you can't be ;);) As either you can be super intelligent(like APJ) or a married person ( which we all aspire to be) :);)
Anyways enjoyed reading, looking forward for few more such stuff from you.
